Marketing is a diversified field. There are so many topics that are clubbed under one common head called marketing. Marketing is the sum total of all activities involved in making a product public and famous.

Your product could be anything under the sun. From a pencil to a chair, from a sofa to washing machines. It could also be a shopping mall, an entertainment mall, and a home heater system. These are all tangible items. Marketing is also done for non-tangible items like spa treatments, aroma oils etc.

So in simple words marketing is selling a product to an individual and bringing more and more loyal customers to a product. Hence there are a variety of options in marketing jobs. You can choose to be on the field and go for meetings. Tie-up with partners and bring in more excitement for the customer.

For instance the cola companies delve in heavy-duty marketing for their brands. It begins with research, as to who is the target audience. Where all they exist. Which parts of India? How do you get to them? Once all the questions are answered, a marketing strategy is planned where ideas are bounced as to what best is the strategy to bring more customers to use the product.

Some think a good distribution system is required. Some think a good quality product is require, this will make the customer come back only to you. But with the fierce completion that is on in the Indian markets, every second product is a me-too product. Then it is here that the marketing department uses its strategies to come out with innovations, which make its product stand out as the best.
