Public relations jobs can be quite demanding on an individual, as the employee has to spot the opportunity where he can take his brand forward. Tie-ups are encountered, barter system is played upon and liaisons for many activities are undertaken.
To begin with you have to understand the product at hand, learn it and know the rules by which you have to walk. Then look out for brands, promotions and events that you can closely associate with the product. At an event with the increasing footfalls you get eyeballs for your brand. The more you propagate your brands through the right tie-up the more people i.e. the common consumer is aware of your brand.
Sometimes role models, actors, celebrities are invited to endorse the product in India. But you have to be every careful on who you are selecting. The celebrity may be very famous but he or she has to fit your product image. For instance if you take an overtly glamorous celebrity then your product may be overshadowed by the celebrity. Hence be a little careful before you sign that contract.
Once you play by the rules and gain from it you will understand how to break the rules yet gain from it.
